Lately, Derek and I have been getting the question “why are you doing the world race?”  The simple answer that made the most sense to us was that God has called us to it. Which is completely true, God truly has called us to The World Race. However, the more we said it the more it felt like a cop-out answer. The more we were asked the more we were forced to think about it. Why are we doing The World Race? What is driving us to keep going when it would be so easy to stop? After discussing together, we boiled it down to one phrase; “FOR THE ONE”.

For the one smile. For the one hug. For the one interaction. For the one salvation. For the one transformation. If this entire journey impacts just one person who would have otherwise been untouched and unseen, it is worth it to us. The emotional rollercoasters that come with this journey. Putting our lives on hold for a few years. Fundraising and everything in between would all be worth it if just one person was impacted by God through us on this trip.

We also view this phrase as for the One. For the One who calls us by name. For the One who sacrificed His life for ours. For the Almighty and the Healer. For the King. The list goes on and on and on. We are in this for the One.

So, for those that ask “why are you doing the world race?”, our answer to you is...

FOR THE ONE.
